The Romo Group’s 2019 Design & Colour Forecast

The Romo Group are a fifth-generation family business whose distinctive British design form the very foundations of the infamous Romo brand. We  were lucky enough to attend a talk by sisters, Emily Gould (Design Director) and Felicity Mould (Creative Director) on what the Romo Group sees as the upcoming design and colour trends across fabrics and wallcoverings in 2019. One of their key predictions for 2019 focussed on ‘Ikigai.’ The Japanese fusion combines traditional methods and contemporary imagery. This way of “Finding beauty in the age of imperfection” creates a calm environment using varying textures, colour palettes and watercolours.

Colour trends see earthy reds coming back to the forefront. Nude pinks can be used as a neutral colour but can be teamed with other colours, depending on the tone of the pink used. This makes it a truly versatile colour to be used in your interior. Blues are still seen as a traditionally calming colour although more inky shades such as Indigo Blue create boldness while tonal greens such as Teal or Jade can add a depth and strength of colour, creating a strong colour palette. They found that rich pastel colours are often a little Art Deco inspired, they have a brighter intensity but still retain that softness to them.

As the weather starts to warm up (we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed!), we naturally look to make the most of our outdoor space. Romo have seen a move towards the desire to bring indoor living to outdoor space. Their Mark Alexander outdoor linens are perfectly suited for this. They are made from 10% linen fibre and are chlorine resistant. Let’s hope the sun stays shining so we can enjoy them!
